Federal Member for Calare, Andrew Gee has announced the Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway Inc. has been successful under Round Three of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.
“I’m delighted to announce that the Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway Inc. have been awarded a $3,359 grant under Round Three of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme,” Mr Gee said.
“The funding will go towards the refurbishment of the Railway Station. It includes the painting of the interior of the station and improvements to the flooring.
“This work is part of the continued refurbishment of the station that is increasing the tourism appeal of the railway site - which is already capturing national and international attention.
“Volunteers of the Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway group have been carrying out the work and it’s coming up a treat,” said Mr Gee.
The Federal Government committed $22.5 million to Round Three of the Stronger Communities Programme in the 2017 Budget.
