$3,423 IN FEDERAL FUNDING FOR PORTLAND ROTUNDA

Federal Member for Calare, Andrew Gee has announced the Portland Development Committee were successful under Round Three of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.


“I’m delighted to announce the Portland Development Committee have been awarded $3,423 in funding under Round Three of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme,” Mr Gee said.


“The funding will go towards landscaping around the new Rotunda and provide a beautiful outdoor space for community members to gather and enjoy the outdoors, reminiscent of the days of when the nationally recognised Portland Town Band entertained locals from the Bandstand.


“The grant will also go towards engraved bricks and a historic plaque to add to the Rotunda’s sense of history.


“The Portland Rotunda will give the town a beautiful public centrepiece for locals and visitors to enjoy.


The Federal Government committed $22.5 million to Round Three of the Stronger Communities Programme in the 2017 Budget.
