Federal Member for Calare, Andrew Gee has announced Kandos Museum Inc. were successful under Round Three of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.
“I’m delighted to announce that Kandos Museum Inc. have been awarded a $7,733 grant under Round Three of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme,” Mr Gee said.
“The funding will go towards the installation of sun shades on the eastern and western sides of the Kandos Museum to provide relief from the heat for visitors during the summer.
“It will also help to protect the Museum’s collection of cement works equipment used during Australia’s industrialisation period in the 20th Century, throughout which Kandos played an integral part.
“The Kandos Museum plays a vital role in attracting visitors to the town and sustaining the tourism economy. Protecting the Museum’s collection and keeping visitors comfortable will help encourage tourism, as well as volunteer engagement,” Mr Gee added.
The Federal Government committed $22.5 million to Round Three of the Stronger Communities Programme in the 2017 Budget.
