Federal Member for Calare, Andrew Gee has announced the Gulgong Historical Society was successful under Round Three of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.
“I’m delighted to announce that the Gulgong Historical Society have been awarded a $9,000 grant under Round Three of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme,” Mr Gee said.
“The funding will go towards improving fire safety signage and fire safety-compliant doors at the Gulgong Pioneers Museum as well as fire safety equipment.
“This will help to keep visitors and staff safe and ensure the museum meets current safety legislation.
“The Pioneers Museum at Gulgong is an important fixture on the town’s tourism landscape and these additional measures will help ensure it has a long and safe future.
“The Pioneers Museum houses a vast collection of our local history which has great national significance. Complying with safety regulations is necessary but it’s a huge undertaking for a community organisation and it’s also very expensive, so I’m delighted the Federal Government can help out in this way,” Mr Gee added.
The Federal Government committed $22.5 million to Round Three of the Stronger Communities Programme in the 2017 Budget.
