The Gulgong Showground Land Manager has received a $4,600 grant under the Federal Government’s Volunteer Grants program.
Federal Member for Calare, Andrew Gee said over 40 community groups in Calare received a share of more than $145,000 in federal funding through the program.
““Volunteering has a strong presence throughout Calare and I’m delighted the Federal Government is supporting the organisations that continue to support us,” Mr Gee said.
“The Gulgong Showground Land Manager is one of the deserving recipients and has used the $4,600 grant towards air conditioning for the canteen at the showground.
“The showground is used by a number of community organisations and events including the Gulgong Show, ClayFest, Gulgong Heritage Harness Association, Mudgee and District Campdraft Association, Gulgong Vintage and Classic Motor Cycle Club and the Gulgong Swap Meet.
“Air conditioning will make it more comfortable for volunteers, especially during the summer months when temperatures can get up to 40 degrees.”
The Australian Government has invested $20 million in Volunteer Grants 2018 in recognition of the valuable role volunteers play in building more resilient and cohesive communities and supporting individual participation in community life.
