NDIS WORKSHOP COMES TO ORANGE

NDIS WORKSHOP COMES TO ORANGE

People with disability in Calare are invited to share their experiences with the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

An accessible community workshop will be held in Orange on 22 October to discuss ways to improve participants’ experiences with the NDIS. Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Stuart Robert, recently announced the public consultation on the review of the NDIS legislation and rules.

The review will lead to the development of an NDIS Participant Service Guarantee, which will set new standards for the time it takes for key steps in the NDIS process.

This means there will be shorter, agreed timeframes for people to get their access decision, to have their NDIS plan approved and to have their plan reviewed.

The Participant Service Guarantee will take effect from 1 July 2020.

Member for Calare, Andrew Gee, said it is critical that people with disability are at the centre of the review.

“I encourage people with a disability, and their families, carers and supporters, to come along to the workshop in Orange to share their views on how to make NDIS processes simpler, quicker and more straight-forward,” Mr Gee said.

  • “The review will focus on how we can make NDIS processes simpler, quicker and more straight-forward, and remove barriers to positive participant experiences with the NDIS,” Mr Gee said.
  • “The review will lead to the development of a new NDIS Participant Service Guarantee to improve participants’ experiences with the NDIS.
  • The Guarantee will take effect from 1 July 2020 and will set new standards for the time it takes for key steps in the NDIS process, including access decisions, having an NDIS plan approved or having a plan reviewed,” Mr Gee concluded.

The consultations will be open, inclusive and accessible for all members of the community.
