ORANGE FIELD DAYS CO-OP GIVEN GREEN LIGHT TO BUILD NEW COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTRE

The oldest annual agricultural exhibition in the country has been successful in securing $308,175 through the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.

Federal Member for Calare Andrew Gee said the grant will allow the Orange Field Days Co-Op to build a new community based learning centre at the Borenore site.

“This project will deliver a purpose built information and education centre at the Australian National Field Days site, providing space for workshops, seminars, product information days, industry skills training and community meetings,” Mr Gee said.

“Operating since 1952, the Australian National Field Days showcases the latest technology and innovations in agriculture with over 600 exhibitors displaying their products and services at the event each year.

“The site is also well used by local community groups, including the Borenore/Nashdale Men’s Shed, the Orange Model Aircraft Club and Borenore Public School, however the current facilities are no longer appropriate and lack essential connectivity to the digital world.

“Widely regarded as bringing the best in farming to Borenore, the construction of this learning centre will strengthen the Australian National Field Days site as a community agricultural hub and bring it into the 21st century.

 “It is projects such as this one that make our regional communities even better places to live, work and raise a family and I’m excited to see the positive difference this funding will make to the local community.”

When complete, the facility will include:

  • Large training / multi-purpose room fully-equipped with IT equipment;
  • Media room with access to livestream / podcast equipment; and
  • Amenities including a kitchen, first aid room and accessible/disabled facilities.
