Bills & Inquiries
As your Member of Parliament for Calare, I am dedicated to developing policies that genuinely reflect the needs and aspirations of our community. Being independent frees me from the constraints of major parties, allowing me to directly represent the voices of Calare in Parliament.
Having listened closely to our constituents, I've taken decisive action.
From calling for inquiries and introducing innovative bills to Parliament, I’m turning the voices of our region into tangible, real-time improvements.
I'm committed to representing Calare's people and making sure their voices are heard loud and clear.
Stopping Windfarms In State Forests Bill Hits Parliament
Earlier in the year in Parliament, I introduced my Bill that will prohibit windfarms being built in State forests.
It's called the Stopping Windfarms in State Forests Bill 2025.
It comes after extensive community consultation and feedback.
I recently attended meetings in Sunny Corner and Yetholme where the Sunny Corner State Forest windfarm proposal was unveiled.
I was very concerned by what I saw here. These turbines are very close to many residential homes, in some cases a mere one kilometre away. I was surprised by how big the impact will be on these residents.
Let’s Keep Cash Transactions in Australia
The Keeping Cash Transactions in Australia Bill 2024 aims to preserve the freedom for Australians to choose how they will pay for transactions.
It’s a response to concerns from many in our community who fear that cash is being phased out by banks and institutions, and that it may soon disappear.
Reducing Supermarket Dominance
The Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Foreign Entities Bill 2024 takes a stand against Australia's supermarket giants by gradually reducing their market share to 20% over six years, led by a Commissioner for Food Retailing.
Ban on Foreign Residential Housing Speculators
Many Australians find home ownership increasingly unattainable, but the Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Foreign Entities Bill 2024 aimed to alleviate Australia's housing affordability crisis by imposing a two-year ban on non-Australian foreign entities buying residential property.
Storm and Flood Insurance Inquiry
In response to the 2022 storms and floods, I've persistently advocated for our region's welfare, prioritising insurer accountability and community concerns, even directly urging the Prime Minister for a parliamentary inquiry.
