Federal Member for Calare Andrew Gee today visited Canowindra Bowling Club to inspect a new automatic irrigation system, which was made possible through a $12,200 grant from the Australian Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.
During the visit, Mr Gee was joined by President of the Canowindra Bowling Club, Kevin Walker, and members of the Women’s Bowling Club.
Mr Gee said the Canowindra Bowling Club was a central part of the local community, providing a place for locals to come together and enjoy its sporting facilities.
“The Canowindra Bowling Club is hoping to attract more bowls tournaments and this new irrigation system will help to improve the quality of the bowling greens,” Mr Gee said.
The Stronger Communities Programme funded small capital projects which will deliver social benefits by supporting community participation and contributing to the vibrancy and viability of communities.
