Community Consultations

Over the past few months, I’ve been dedicated to conducting a series of community consultations across our region to gather feedback on energy and climate issues that matter most to you. These consultations have provided me with valuable insights, helping me understand the diverse perspectives and concerns within our communities.

It is evident that there are strong opinions on proposed energy projects in our region and national climate policies. These conversations have been invaluable in helping me understand your concerns, provide answers to your questions, and ensure that your voices are at the forefront of shaping decisions that affect our community and environment.

Individual Consultations in Oberon

A key part of my consultations has been holding scheduled one-on-one meetings with constituents in Oberon, where proposed wind farms have been a central focus. These discussions allowed residents to voice their thoughts and concerns about the potential impact of the projects on their community and environment. The insights gained have been invaluable, offering a deeper understanding of local perspectives, including issues such as job opportunities, potential risks to the community, and the strain on existing infrastructure.

Community Consultations in Lithgow and Wallerawang

In Lithgow and Wallerawang, I’ve hosted informal coffee shop drop-ins, inviting community members to join me for conversations about energy, climate, and other concerns they wished to raise. A prominent topic in these discussions has been the Coalition's proposal for a nuclear station at the nearby Mount Piper site, which has generated significant interest and debate. These gatherings allowed residents to speak openly, share their perspectives, and offer valuable feedback on how proposed energy projects might impact their community.

Individual Property Visits in Oberon

To engage directly with those most affected by nearby wind farm proposals, I’ve visited individual properties across the Oberon area. These visits provided an opportunity to speak one-on-one with landowners and residents, allowing them to share their concerns and perspectives in detail. Witnessing the potential impact on their properties and hearing firsthand accounts of how these projects might change their lives has been a crucial part of my consultations. These interactions have offered invaluable insights into the real-world implications of the proposals, helping me better understand the challenges faced by those on the ground.

I’m Listening to You

Throughout these consultations, I have been across our region, actively listening to your concerns and opinions. It’s important to me that every voice is heard, and these consultations are an essential part of ensuring that energy and climate policies reflect the needs and desires of our local communities.
