ON A ROLL! MOLONG BOWLING CLUB MOVING FORWARD THANKS TO $20,000 FEDERAL GOVERNMENT GRANT

One year after the horrific storms and floods hit Molong, devastating the local Bowling Club, members are looking forward to seeing their home turf transformed.

Thanks to a $20,000 Stronger Communities Programme grant, Molong Bowling Club will replace the damaged sportsground with a brand-new bowling green.

The presentation of the grant comes after members voted to keep the club and greens at the current site at their AGM in mid-October.

Independent Member for Calare, Andrew Gee, said the local community continues to push forward following the disaster.

“One year ago, Molong locals had their lives changed forever when unprecedented storms unleashed horrifying amounts of water, devastating the town.

“Twelve months have passed, but the hurt, pain and sense of loss is just as raw. In the wake of the disaster, and during the recovery from that terrifying day, we’ve heard stories of great heartache and tragedy. But we’ve also seen the local community come together to turn that harrowing experience into a positive rebuilding process.

“Molong Bowling Club members have vowed to see their much-loved site returned back to its best, so it’s fantastic that, with this $20,00 grant, they’ll be able to get cracking on replacing the greens.

“The Molong Bowling Club is a wonderful community facility. Twelve months on from the disaster, it’s exciting to see a plan in place to restore the clubhouse and greens so that residents and visitors can enjoy the venue and sportsground once more,” said Mr Gee.
